Lester Holt will succeed Brian Williams at the head of NBC Nightly News, becoming the first solo black anchor of a nightly broadcast-network evening newscast. "Promised my family I wouldn't think about work during vacation. Just got the OK to break that promise," Holt tweeted. "Excited and grateful for new role." Ex-anchor Brian Williams is expected to head to MSNBC to handle breaking news after his six-month suspension for fabrications ends in August, people familiar with the matter said. "Lester has done outstanding work for NBC News over the last ten years, and he's performed remarkably well over the last few months under very tough circumstances," said Andrew Lack, Chairman of NBC News and MSNBC.
