Spokane Mayor David Condon and City Council President Ben Stuckart called Wednesday for former NAACP chapter leader Rachel Dolezal to resign from its police oversight commission, following an investigation that found she acted inappropriately in her role. The independent investigation examined a whistle-blower complaint filed against Dolezal and two other members of the Washington city’s Police Ombudsman Commission, who were accused of behaving unprofessionally during interactions with city employees. The community leaders also called for the two other members to resign, adding that they were “deeply disturbed” by the report’s findings. Dolezal sparked a public backlash after her parents revealed she had misled people to believe she was black.
