Just a month after the shocking announcement that it would close, Sweet Briar College is on the verge of opening its doors again for the the 2015-2016 school year. Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring announced Saturday night that a deal has been struck after alumni raised $12 million to fund the school along with $16 million that will be released from the school’s endowment. If a court approves of the deal, there will be a completely new board, and James F. Jones, Jr., the president who announced the school’s closing, would resign.
