Bill Cosby’s lawyers accused the media Tuesday of “one-sided reporting” in the release of his deposition in a 2005 lawsuit, contending the comedian “admitted to nothing more than being one of the many people who introduced Quaaludes into their consensual sex life in the 1970s.” The comments were part of a motion asking a judge to block the further release of the 2006 settlement in a sexual-battery case, which the accuser wants unsealed. The lawyers argued “Quaaludes were highly popular recreational drug,” which were called “’disco biscuits,’ and known for their capacity to increase sexual arousal,” the court filing said. Cosby’s team contends the media inaccurately portrayed the deposition as a confession of rape, and blamed Andrea Constand, the woman who had accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2005, of launching a “smear” campaign against the comedian.
