An intern for Missouri Sen. Paul LeVota has filed complaints against the congressman for sexual harassment, according to a legislative report released Wednesday. The intern, a student at the University of Central Missouri, says she “experienced a pattern of sexual harrasment, including unwelcome text messages and explicit requests for sexual activity” from LeVota. When she reported the senator’s advances to his chief of staff, the intern says she believes she “was subject to retaliation.” LeVota, a Democrat, has denied sending “inappropriate text messages” to the intern, but “declined to have a forensic examination of his telephone, citing privacy concerns about personal information on his telephone,” according to the legislative report.
