A relaunched Gawker.com will be ‘20 percent nicer,’ according to founder Nick Denton. Denton told staff of his aim for the relaunch of the gossip site at a Thursday meeting, later downgrading his niceness aim to ‘10 to 15 percent.’
Denton also said his dream editor for the site, which also moves to new New York premises next week, would be Ta-Nehisi Coates, a national correspondent at The Atlantic and author of Between The World and Me.
Staff who felt out of kilter with Denton’s new vision for Gawker could quit and collect full severance pay, Denton said. There is also talk of possibly changing the site’s name.
