New Jersey investigators are renewing their search for a Catholic priest who may have fled the country after being accused of raping a 15-year-old in a rectory 12 years ago. The Rev. Manuel Gallo Espinoza has been on the run ever since—the Archdiocese of Newark claims Gallo Espinoza fled to his native Ecuador following the accusations and suspension from the ministry. Now, his alleged victim has filed a lawsuit and investigators are attempting to track him down. Visa documents show Gallo Espinoza returned to the United States in 2005 to teach high school in Maryland before vanishing again in February of last year. New Jersey has no statute of limitations on sexual-assault cases.
