The FBI arrested a former police lieutenant from Pine Lawn, Missouri, for conspiring to falsely arrest a mayoral candidate. Lt. Steven Blakeney made another person erroneously report that the candidate had taken a campaign poster from a local business, prosecutors allege. The poster belonged to Nakisha Ford, the opponent of former Mayor Sylvester Caldwell, who was sentenced to prison for corruption. Blakeney was indicted for one count of conspiracy against rights, deprivation of rights under color of law, and falsification of records. Blakeney faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
