After more than 1,000 migrants left a Hungarian train station Friday and began the long walk to the Austrian border, the Hungarian government offered buses to the migrants. The refugees refused to register as asylum-seekers at a nearby center and had slept on trains in a standoff with police. Authorities allowed migrants to board the train Thursday, but later tried to force them off at a refugee camp outside the capital. Under European Union rules, refugees must register in the first country they arrive in before moving on, and many fear they’ll be sent back to Hungary if caught in Western and Northern Europe.
