Europe has seen a surge of unaccompanied child refugees mostly from Syria, Sudan, Afghanistan and Eritrea. Countries like Great Britain and Sweden have had to devise new ways to provide care for the mostly 14-18-year-old boys. Sweden, which takes in the largest amount of refugees per capita in Europe, has some 1,300 minors seeking asylum in just one week in Septembers. A total of around 12,000 have sought asylum in the country this year.
