Parents Accused of Killing Son at Church

Police said on Tuesday a couple was charged with fatally beating their 19-year-old son inside a central New York Church. Four other church members were also charged with assault in an incident that left the couple's other son hospitalized. Bruce Leonard, 65, and Deborah Leonard, 59, were charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of their son Lucas after he was beaten at the World of Life Church, New Hartford Police Lt. Timothy O’Neill said. O'Neill added Lucas Leonard's 17-year-old brother was taken to the hospital after suffering injuries and was in serious condition. Police said more arrests were expected as an investigation continued, but details about the attacks or a motive have not been disclosed.
