An Iranian-American scholar and consultant who advocated for better relations with the U.S. was detained in Iran, his family says. Siamak Namazi was taken from his mother’s house in Tehran to the notorious Evin Prison on Oct. 15, those close to him said. He is at least the fourth Iranian American to be arrested in Iran since the P5+ 1 nuclear-deal agreement, highlighting continued dangers for dual citizens. Namaz’'s family did not comment on the allegations and the State Department told The New York Times it is investigating the reports.
