On the same day that University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe quit amid a student and faculty walkout, the university’s flagship campus chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin, announced that he will resign at the end of this year. After Wolfe announced his departure, the deans of nine different Mizzou departments petitioned for Loftin to be fired for his handling of the racially charged incidents that led to Wolfe’s exit. Starting Jan. 1, 2016, Loftin will transition to a post as director for research facility development, and Hank Foley, MU’s senior vice chancellor, will serve as interim chancellor for the main campus.
