CNN global affairs correspondent Elise Labott was reportedly suspended for two weeks for posting a tweet after Thursday’s House vote to halt the resettlement of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in the United States. The House passed a bill 289-137 to suspend the program allowing Syrian and Iraqi refugees into the country until national-security agencies determine they don’t post a security risk. Forty-seven Democrats joined 242 Republicans in favor of the bill, which could create a majority to override President Barack Obama’s threat to veto the measure. After the vote, Labott tweeted, “Statue of Liberty bows head in anguish.”
