Wheaton College's faculty council has taken up the cause of preventing the Christian school from firing a professor who wore a headscarf to show solidarity with Muslims and began teaching the heretical concept that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. The faculty released a letter saying that the administration's motion to fire associate political science professor Larycia Hawkins should "be withdrawn due to grave concerns about the process." Wheaton responded that it has, thus far, respected and followed the college's long-established protocols.
