A manhunt is underway in Southern California for three inmates from the maximum-security Orange County Central Men’s Jail who escaped Friday after cutting through half-inch steel bars and rappelling from the roof with a rope. CNN reports the men used plumbing tunnels and rappelled using towels and bed sheets to descend the four stories. The men were last seen at 5 a.m. Friday and were discovered missing at the 8 p.m. inmate count, in the first escape from the prison in 20 years. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service put up a $50,000 reward early Monday for information leading to their capture. Police are searching for 20-year-old Jonathan Tieu, who was held on a $1 million bond for murder charges; 37-year-old Hossein Nayeri, who was held on kidnapping and torture charges; and 43-year-old Bac Duong, who is accused of attempted murder. Authorities are not sure whether the men are armed.
