A woman filed suit Thursday against Malaysia Airlines and the Malaysian government for $7.6 million in damages, nearly two years after her husband died on the carrier’s Flight 370. The Boeing 777 mysteriously disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur. The lawsuit was filed by Malaysian national K. Sri Devi and her family, and alleges that the wrongful death of S. Puspanathan was due to negligence and breach of contract by the airline. Australia-based Jennifer Chong filed a similar claim last week after the death of her husband, Chong Ling Tan, who was also on the flight. She’s alleging that the airline was negligent in failing to ensure passengers’ safety. “Families want justice and the truth,” said a lawyer who said he represents the families of nearly 15 of the flight’s passengers. More lawsuits are anticipated in the next week—the filing deadline is March 8, based on a global aviation agreement.
