Retired U.S. soccer star Brandi Chastain, best known for scoring a winning goal in the 1999 World Cup against China, will donate her brain to researchers. The 47-year-old coach says she hopes the move will help the study of concussions and the degenerative brain disease that plagues athletes in many contact-heavy sports. No female athletes have been reported to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), but Chastain reportedly hopes to increase the sample size of female athletes studied for the disease.
