A judge has ordered the woman at the heart of Rolling Stone’s discredited story about a rape on the University of Virginia’s campus to testify as part of a lawsuit against the magazine. The woman, identified only as Jackie, will be deposed Thursday by lawyers for Rolling Stone, the author of the retracted piece, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, and Nico Eramo, the UVA administrator who is suing the magazine for defamation. Erdely’s piece unraveled after doubts surfaced about Jackie’s allegations of gang-rape against a group of fraternity members. Police said they found no evidence of a rape and an independent review found editorial failures on the magazine’s end. Jackie’s lawyers had argued she would be re-victimized if forced to recount the incident.
