Belgium’s transportation minister stepped down Friday after she was accused of ignoring problems with security at the Brussels Airport despite multiple warnings. Leaked reports are said to show Jacqueline Galant was repeatedly cautioned that the checks being conducted at the airport weren’t up to the required standard. Galant is the first official to resign after last month’s deadly terror attacks that killed 16 people at the airport and more than a dozen at a nearby metro station. Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel accepted her resignation.
