The Apple employee found dead Wednesday in a conference room of the company’s Cupertino, California, headquarters committed suicide. The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office reports Edward Thomas Mackowiak, a 25-year-old software engineer, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the company’s Infinite Loop campus. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of a young and talented coworker,” Apple said in a statement. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at Apple.”
