Georgia’s Republican Gov. Nathan Deal vetoed on Tuesday a bill that would have allowed college students in the state to carry concealed guns on campus. “If the intent of HB 859 is to increase safety of students on college campuses, it is highly questionable that such would be the result,” Deal wrote in his veto. Second Amendment advocates in the state had pushed for the measure as a means of ensuring safety for students. Deal had previously said that allowing this measure to pass would create a “Wild West Scenario.”
