Heaven forbid a reporter begins an interview with a politician with an actual question. During his Monday morning chat, via phone, with CNN, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump became irritated when host Chris Cuomo dared kicked off the discussion with a tough question about his pivot toward the general election. “Well, this is a nice way to start off the interview,” the reality-TV star said after being asked about his attacks on Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. “First of all, you should congratulate me for having won the race. I thought, you know, at least there would be a small congratulations.” Taken aback, Cuomo said he did, indeed, commend the orange-hued demagogue last time they spoke: “I said, ‘Congratulations on winning the big race.’” Trump snarked back: “Thank you very much. So warm and so well-felt.” Later in the same interview, the real-estate mogul suggested the United States can simply print more money to climb its way out of debt—a policy that has famously led to hyperinflation in countries like Zimbabwe.
