A pair of Boston brothers who urinated on and beat a homeless man were sentenced to prison Monday after being convicted of what they said was a Donald Trump-inspired crime. They told police they targeted the Mexican man in August 2015 because they believed he was an illegal immigrant, and said after the assault: “Donald Trump was right: All these illegals need to be deported.” The victim is a permanent U.S. resident. He was reportedly punched, kicked, and struck by a metal pole. The brothers, Scott and Steve Leader, both in their thirties, pleaded guilty to indictments on charges of causing bodily injury while committing a civil-rights violation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and others. One of the brothers was sentenced to three years, the other was sentenced to one and a half years. Both of their sentences will be followed by probation.
