Republican Rep. Steve King has called for "civil disobedience" to protest the Obama administration's recent directive to public schools nationwide to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. "There’s no reason for us to follow an unconstitutional edict from the president who is on his way out the door," King told radio host Simon Conway in a clip first flagged by BuzzFeed. The White House created the guidelines in the wake of North Carolina's law requiring transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender listed on their birth certificate.
