Egyptian authorities said the jetliner crash that likely killed 66 people early Thursday was more likely caused by terrorism than by technical issues, multiple sources report. The country’s aviation minister told a news conference he believes there were no security concerns about passengers reported before the flight but that an investigation is still reviewing all passengers on board. He reiterated to reporters that it’s too early to say for sure the cause of the plane’s disappearance. An Egyptian ship captain posted on social media Thursday that he’d found debris from the flight. “I found a life jacket and debris from a chair on the plane,” he reportedly wrote. Greek officials also alleged that debris had been spotted in the search area.
NBC News reported that U.S. intelligence officials saw evidence of an explosion on satellites.
