Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin vetoed a bill Friday that would have made performing an abortion a felony. The state’s legislature on Thursday approved the bill, which would have been the first of its kind nationwide if signed into law. It would have also prevented a doctor from obtaining or renewing a medical license if he or she performs an abortion. The admitted goal of the legislation’s author, Republican State Sen. Nathan Dahm, was to eventually overturn Roe v. Wade through a series of court disputes. Fallin, a pro-life conservative, said the bill was too “vague” as written.
