He was a member of the Hungarian water polo team that won during the Nazi-organized Berlin Olympics in 1936. Tarics came to the United States from Hungary in 1949 and went on to become a designer of earthquake-resistant building technology. He went to the 2012 London Olympics and when asked before his death about attending the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he said: “We will see, it is hard to plan things so much forward.”
