Former managers of Trump University called the for-profit school started by Donald Trump a “lie” and a “scheme,” according to testimony revealed Tuesday. Ronald Schnackenberg, a former sales manager for the school, recounted in his written testimony how he was punished for pressuring a cash-strapped couple into signing up for a $35,000 real-estate course. “I believe that Trump University was a fraudulent scheme,” he wrote, “and that it preyed upon the elderly and uneducated to separate them from their money.” Former sales executive Jason Nicholas testified that his colleagues were told to lure students by falsely claiming Trump himself would be “actively involved” in their education. “This was not true,” Nicholas said, calling the program “a facade, a total lie.”
