The socialist senator from Vermont will not be skydiving into his rally in California after all.
On Thursday, The Press Democrat reported that the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign had—actually, really—discussed the possibility of the candidate skydiving into his rally at an airport in Cloverdale, in Northern California, on Friday night.
“I’ve been told they will run the idea by Bernie,” Jimmy Halliday, president and “jumpmaster” at NorCal Skydiving, told The Press Democrat. “I can’t confirm that’s the plan. I know that’s a possibility.”
“If he feels like going skydiving, I will personally take him,” Halliday continued.
Today, the Team Bernie has confirmed that, no, the 74-year-old self-described democratic socialist will not be skydiving into his Cloverdale campaign stop.
“The senator won't be skydiving today. Thanks!” Symone Sanders (no relation), national press secretary for Sanders 2016, emailed The Daily Beast on Friday afternoon… thus quashing the dreams of political reporters and Sanders enthusiasts everywhere.
