Conservationists at the Louvre were working quickly Friday to move several priceless works of art at the famed museum in an attempt protect the pieces from rising floodwaters. The Seine has topped its banks after several days of heavy rains in France, Germany, and across Central Europe; 12 people have been reported dead. The works will be moved to less vulnerable locations on higher levels of the museum. The Louvre was closed Friday, as was the Musee d’Orsay.
