The Pittsburgh Penguins sank the San Jose Sharks 3-1 Monday night, bringing them within one game of bagging the Stanley Cup. The Penguins took a 3-1 series lead and could secure the championship Thursday night in Game 5 on home ice. Penguins defenseman Kris Letang called the long-shot team’s journey “surreal,” adding “everybody had kind of counted us out.” Defenseman Ian Cole, who scored his first postseason goal ever, added that “no one was happy with the way [the season] started.” A victory Thursday would bring Pittsburgh its fourth Stanley Cup title, and the first since 2009.
