Hillary Clinton praised the Supreme Court abortion ruling—while slamming Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump—after the high court knocked down restrictive Texas regulations in a 5-3 opinion Monday. Clinton tweeted, “SCOTUS’s decision is a victory for women in Texas and across America. Safe abortion should be a right—not just on paper, but in reality.” She added: “This fight isn’t over: The next president has to protect women’s health,” and “Women won’t be ‘punished’ for exercising their basic rights.” In an MSNBC interview in March, Trump said there “must be some form of punishment” for women who receive the procedure. He later released a statement walking the comment back. “The doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman,” he said. “The woman is a victim in this case as is the life of her womb. My position has not changed.”
