Before Donald Trump took the stage for a rally in Bangor, Maine, Boston radio host Howie Carr warmed up the crowd by mimicking a Native American war whoop to reference Elizabeth Warren. "You know Elizabeth Warren, right?" Carr said before cupping his hand to his mouth and whooping. Trump has referred to Warren as Pocahontas, aluding to the Native American heritage she claims. She has been attacked for using her heritage to her advantage but there's no real evidence that this is the case.
In a phone interview after the event, Carr said he did not regret making the uncouth gesture.
"No I don't regret it," Carr told The Daily Beast before boarding a plane. "I've said this a million times. She has to answer these questions."
Carr said that the criticism was legitimate because he saw Trump protesters with signs calling the presumptive Republican nominee "racist" earlier in the day. When informed that the difference was that those people are citizens and he was acting as a surrogate, Carr insisted that they were sent by the Clinton campaign.
"I've asked her for years to take a DNA test," Carr said of Warren, adding that he requested that she send a saliva sample to Ancestry.com. "If she is not a Native American, then she is guilty of cultural appropriation."
The video is currently being promoted on Carr's Facebook page.
