The Defense Department announced Monday that two more detainees in Guantanamo Bay have been transferred out of the military prison. Yemeni Mansur Ahmad Saad al-Dayfi and Tajik Muhammadi Davlatov were both sent to a facility in Serbia as part of the Obama administration’s push to empty out and close the prison. Both Davlatov and Dayfi had been held for 14 years, though it is not clear what they were accused of. According to the Pentagon, they were transferred only after thorough security checks were conducted. On Sunday, another prisoner was released and sent to Italy. There are now 76 remaining prisoners, the majority of which are expected to be sent to facilities in other countries before President Obama leaves office in January.
