Butler Traditional High School in Louisville faces national controversy after a state lawmaker-elect brought to light the school’s policy banning cornrows, braids, twists, and dreadlocks. “Soooo...my daughter had registration today and let's just say she's not happy abt the #JCPS no natural hair policy,” Attica Scott, the first black woman elected to the Kentucky legislature in two decades, tweeted on Wednesday evening. Jefferson County Public Schools’ official Twitter account responded that the ban on such hair styles was made by a council at Butler itself, and not by the district at large.
