Federal officials say a woman recently released from prison robbed a Wyoming bank to land herself back behind bars. The woman, 59-year-old Linda Patricia Thompson, reportedly robbed a branch of U.S. Bank in Wyoming earlier this week only to throw the money up into the air outside and sit down to wait for police. She also offered some of the stolen cash to strangers walking by, investigators said. Thompson later told investigators that she’d been living on the streets since her release from prison and after being attacked by strangers, decided she was better off in prison. She has a detention hearing set for Tuesday and does not yet have an attorney, they said. FBI Special Agent Tory Smith said in court documents that when a police officer responded to the bank robbery Thompson told him, “I just robbed the bank, I want to go back to prison.”
