Two priests were found dead Monday in Mexico, one day after they’d been abducted from their church in the eastern state of Veracruz. Local prosecutors said the clerics were found dumped on the side of a road. A third man who was abducted with them, a driver, was found alive and placed under police protection. Investigators didn’t disclose further details about how the men were killed. The priests were identified by the Mexican Council of Bishops as Alejo Nabor Jimenez Juarez and Jose Alfredo Juarez de la Cruz, both of whom served in a low-income area in the city of Poza Rica. The motive remains unclear, though Poza Rica has been ravaged by drug violence and the murders of journalists in the past year.
