The U.S. Secret Service investigated a Virginia military veteran for allegedly threatening violence against Donald Trump, according to information made public Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General. The man, who was not named by officials, reportedly admitted to having firearms in his home and to having told a neighbor that he intended to visit a Trump event in Virginia. During the investigation, the veteran reportedly told officials he was simply “messing around” and had no intention to follow through on the threat. “Trump is creating problems instead of helping people,” the veteran reportedly told investigators. He also claimed he had left his house with a gun before a neighbor talked him out of carrying out any such violence.
