German prosecutors are now focusing on Volkswagen chairman Hans Dieter Poetsch as part of their investigation into the car maker’s diesel emissions scandal. Last year, Volkswagen admitted that it knowingly dodged federal emissions standards in nearly 11 million cars. The U.S. Justice Department is also looking into the matter. “Based on a thorough examination by internal and external legal experts, the company reaffirms its belief that VW’s management fulfilled its duties to inform the capital market,” the company said Sunday in a statement, pledging to cooperate with the investigation.
