Former House speaker Newt Gingrich, an ardent supporter of president-elect Donald Trump throughout the campaign, said on Thursday that he does not intend on being in the cabinet of the new administration. “I want to be free to network across the whole system and look at what we have to do to succeed,” Gingrich said in a brief interview with The Washington Post. Gingrich had been discussed as a potential option for secretary of state and also health and human services secretary. He also said that he was interested in working on "strategic planning" during the administration.
