In a video address posted to YouTube late Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump appealed for unity after the “long and bruising” presidential campaign. “Emotions are raw and tensions just don’t heal overnight,” he said. “It’s my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country strengthened by shared purpose and very, very common resolve.” Trump’s comments about unity came after a series of administration picks that appeared to demonstrate a bid to make people forget about his inflammatory and racist rhetoric during the presidential campaign. After repeatedly being accused of misogyny during his campaign, Trump selected the first two women to serve on his team earlier this week: South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and advocate Betsy DeVos. Both women were highly critical of Trump during his campaign.
