The FBI has backed the CIA’s conclusion that Russia intervened in the U.S. presidential election in order to help Donald Trump win, according to The Washington Post, citing U.S. officials. CIA Director John Brennan reportedly sent a memo to CIA employees telling them that “there is a strong consensus” among he, Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper “on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election.” The report also says CIA officials briefed top senators two weeks ago, telling them it was “quite clear” that Russia wanted to help propel Trump to the White House. Trump himself has questioned recent reports suggesting Russia’s intentions to interfere in the election.
