Indonesian police killed three suspected militants Wednesday during a gun battle outside Jakarta, authorities said. Several bombs were found during the raid and police have reportedly begun trying to defuse them, prompting the surrounding neighborhood to be evacuated. A spokesman for the National Police told local media that one person had been arrested during the operation. “During the raid, we tried to be careful but they threw something from inside the house and it was a bomb but it did not explode. Then they fired from inside,” he said. “Inside the house we found a bigger bomb and now we are investigating it to try to detonate it,” he said. The suspects involved in the raid are thought to be tied to a group arrested Dec. 10 that was allegedly planning a suicide attack at the presidential palace.
