At least 23 people were killed and 17 reported missing Sunday after a ferry caught fire near the coast of Jakarta, authorities said. It was carrying about 230 people from the port of Muara Angke to the resort island of Tidung, with most of those on board celebrating New Year’s. The country’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency said about 10 ships have been deployed in a search and rescue mission for those missing. The cause of the fire is unknown.
