Chung Yoo-ra, one of the most-wanted suspects in the scandal that led to the South Korean president’s impeachment last month, was detained by police in Denmark. Authorities in South Korea announced the 20-year-old's detainment on Monday. She is the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, one of President Park Geun-hye's longtime confidantes. Chung was reportedly in Europe in hiding with her young child, despite repeated requests from investigators in South Korea that she return to the country and face criminal charges. “We will request her emergency extradition, working with the special prosecutor’s office,” said Lee Chul-sung, the chief of the National Police Agency. Park has been accused as an accomplice in Choi's purported extortion racket and is currently on trial in the nation's Constitutional Court. That proceeding will determine whether she should be officially removed from office, following her parliamentary impeachment.
