President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday pushed back on vaccination skeptic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s claims that he was asked to chair a panel on vaccines. Kennedy made such a claim after meeting with the president-elect to discuss “vaccine safety and scientific integrity.” Both Kennedy and Trump have long touted the scientifically false claim that childhood vaccinations cause autism, leading to concerns that such an alliance will lead to an anti-vaccine administration that will harm children’s health. In a statement, Trump attempted to temper Kennedy’s statement, saying he is in the process of considering a “committee on autism,” but that “no decisions have been made.”
