Fox News announced Friday that it had hired former United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage as a contributor for the cable channel and its sister Fox Business Network’s programming. Farage was best known as the far-right leader of Britain’s more anti-immigrant, nationalist supporters of Brexit—the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. The former UKIP leader’s success with the Brexit movement has been widely considered a parallel to the rise of Donald Trump’s populist nationalism in the United States and his electoral victory. Farage has praised Trump’s election to U.S. president as “part of a world revolution—it’s Brexit plus, plus, plus.”
