White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday went after the news media for its questioning of the administration over Trump’s denunciation of anti-Semitism in response to a recent wave of hate crimes targeting Jews. On Tuesday morning, Trump condemned anti-Semitism as “horrible” and “a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil.” Spicer was asked about a strongly worded statement from the Anne Frank Center which called Trump’s comments a “pathetic asterisk of condescension.” Spicer said Trump has always wanted to unite the country. “It’s ironic that no matter how many times he talks about this, that it’s never good enough,” Spicer said. “Today, I think, was an unbelievably forceful comment by the president as far as his denunciation of the actions that are currently targeted toward Jewish community centers.”
