While the estimated number of uninsured individuals under House Republicans’ plan to repeal Obamacare remains the same, the deficit-reducing savings in the revised version of “Trumpcare” are less than half of those previously estimated. According to the Congressional Budget Office’s latest scoring of the GOP-led American Health Care Act, the newly revised bill—which is in danger of failing after its vote was postponed Thursday afternoon—would still lead to 14 million fewer insured individuals by 2018, as previously estimated by the agency. However, the CBO added, while an earlier version of the bill would have led to roughly $337 billion in federal deficit savings through 2026, this more recent version would only save less than half that amount—an estimated $150 billion, according to the estimate.
